Common Questions We Get Asked
Yard Techs has access to any major brand offered by other landscape contractors. We also have access to local manufacturers that are based right here in Southern California. We do have our preferred brands for different project types, but we don’t force any one brand.
Unfortunately, Yard Techs will only install lighting products offered at contractor supply stores, and not at big box stores. The reason for this is due to training and safety of installation. When we purchase professional grade products, we know what we are getting and we can trust the product. We can try to do repair work on other products, but most lower grade parts are not easily repaired.
Most landscape lighting jobs are completed in 1-3 days. Other projects that may come up during the installation may add to this time. An example would be if we need to move something in the landscape to make the lighting plan work. Unlike other providers we do charge per the man hour. We are not trying to do a quick job for more profit. We aim to give a professional outcome and go the extra mile in ensuring all wires are stappled down and nothing else is damaged during the installation.
The cost of a landscape lighting system will vary depending on fixtures picked and difficulty of installation site. All work done by Yard Techs is billed per man hour and product cost. There are fixtures starting at $52 a fixture and go up from there. You will also need to plan on at least $175 for a transformer, wire, wire nuts, and stakes to hold down wires. A landscape lighting system is an investment into the property and before and quotes you should plan a ideal budget to help refine the offering.
We do give initial quotes for free and can talk about the plan we have for the property for free during the initial estimate. As soon as we start sending drawings, designs, or ideas on the layout we do charge for this. Designing a system is a time-consuming process. It has taken us years to develop our skills. Like any job we do need to charge for our team’s labor in designing the system. If you go with us for the job the design will be a small factor in the overall cost of the installation.
